BOSTON — Two people were killed and one person was seriously injured early today when a fire broke out in a building near Kenmore Square, displacing more than 30 people, fire officials said.
The three-alarm blaze started shortly after 5 a.m. on the top floor of a three-story brick building at 21 Aberdeen St., said Steve MacDonald, a Boston Fire Department spoksman.
NStar workers were in a manhole nearby, trying to fix a power outage at the time, and helped evacuate people from the building and from 19 Aberdeen St., which adjoins it, MacDonald said. The victims were a man and a woman whom authorities have yet to identify.
