STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-- Police arrested a city firefighter Sunday following a crash in Port Richmond that resulted in damaged property and at least one person hospitalized.
Omar Juarez-Rivera, 27, faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, according to a written statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information’s office.
A law enforcement source told the Advance Juarez-Riviera crashed a vehicle in to a bush at the intersection of Post and Decker avenues at about 3:50 a.m., then fled the scene.
Police initially responded to a report of multiple injuries, though an FDNY spokesman said only one patient needed to be transported to Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.
