MINNEAPOLIS — Two firefighters were assaulted by a man who set his own house on fire and climbed on the roof, according to police.

CBS Minnesota reported that the firefighters responded to an RV fire in the same area as the home of Jon Tuma.

Police said that after crews extinguished the blaze, Tuma attacked them and hit them in the face and head with a heavy object before running back to his home, lighting it on fire and climbing onto the roof with a knife.

Tuma then jumped off the roof after police officers fired bean bag rounds at him, and he was transported to the hospital. Police said he faces charges of assault and arson.
