HOUSTON — A Houston fire captain hospitalized with COVID-19 is in intensive care, Chief Samuel Peña said Wednesday.
Houston Fire Department Capt. Leroy Lucio, a 30-year department veteran, is “in critical condition and fighting for his life,” Peña said in a tweet.
“Asking all of @HoustonTX, if you beleive [sic] in PRAYER or the power of love and positive energy please sent it to him and his family,” Peña said.
Two other firefighters from the department are also hospitalized with the virus, according to KPRC, and a total of 59 have tested positive. In total, 175 Houston firefighters were in quarantine as of Wednesday.
