RED BANK, N.J. — A community is mourning the death of a young firefighter-EMT who was murdered Sunday.

Patch.com reported that firefighter-EMT Lt. Andrew Hughes-Hill, 26, was found stabbed after someone called 911 to report the incident. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Police arrested Demar Reevey, 23, for the stabbing, and he was charged for the incident as well as third-degree possession of a weapon.

“Andrew was known for his positive attitude and infectious smile, which will never be forgotten,” a GoFundMe site for the Hughes-Hill’s family said. “Andrew will be dearly missed by all that knew him.”

“Andrew was a strong and proud member of our Westside Hose Company and Engine 96,” the Red Bank Fire Department posted on its Facebook page. “It pains us terribly to see such a promising young man struck down in this way and we offer our deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones. To our brother Andrew we say thank you for your service and your friendship, and rest easy, we’ll take it from here.”
