ELOY, Ariz. — Firefighters with the Eloy Fire District rescued a driver whose vehicle went underneath a tractor-trailer.
The department said the initial report was grim as crews were dispatched for a crash with possible fatalities near Interstate 10 on March 27.
When crews arrived, they found an SUV that had crashed into the rear of a stationary tractor-trailer.
Firefighters on scene heard faint signs of life coming from the wreckage. Engine and Medic 522, Medic 521 and Battalion 521 quickly mobilized extrication with hydraulic tools, the department said.
The patient was freed from entanglement and flown to a level-one trauma center for life-threatening injuries.
