LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — A fire lieutenant died Thursday after being found floating in a private gym’s pool May 8.

U.S. Fire Administration reported that Lt. James Franklin Dorminy, 55, with Reedy Creek Emergency Services, was on shift May 8. He ran three calls while on shift, including an amusement park ride evacuation, a rescue-assist at a citizen cardiac arrest and a false fire alarm.

After shift, Lt. Dorminy went to an off-site private gym to workout. He was found floating in the pool by bystanders and was resuscitated. However, he never regained consciousness. His family terminated life support Thursday.

Lt. Dorminy was a 23-year veteran.
