AURORA, Colo. — Aurora firefighters responded to a report of a child trapped inside a burning apartment at 1076 S. Elkhart Way on Oct. 13.

First-arriving Engine 7 found smoke showing from the second floor and advanced a hose line. EMS1 assumed command and was told by a resident that a child was trapped inside, prompting a second alarm for additional resources.

Ladder 9 conducted a primary search of the smoke-filled apartment while other crews worked to contain the fire, placed ladders at windows and checked the attic for extension.

Within eight minutes of arrival, the child was found outside, safe and uninjured, and the fire was under control within 10 minutes.
