Fire Family Foundation offering $50K in college scholarships to firefighters’ children

The children of active, retired or fallen firefighters are eligible for this merit-based scholarships

PASADENA, Calif. — The application window is now open for the nonprofit Fire Family Foundation’s $50,000 in college scholarships available for the children of active, retired or fallen firefighters.

The merit-based scholarships are offered to the children of active, retired or fallen firefighters. Key criteria include a grade-point average of 3.2 or higher, extracurricular activities, leadership roles and community involvement. An essay and a resume are required. “Our scholarships recognize students for their achievements including grades, sports, community service and leadership positions,” Gregory Fish, vice chair of the Fire Family Foundation Board and chief of the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Department, said in a news release.

Founded in 2008, the Fire Family Foundation is a nonprofit focused on providing support and financial assistance to firefighters and their families in times of need. The mission is fulfilled through four core programs, providing financial assistance grants to firefighters and their families, awarding college scholarships, providing disaster relief and granting funds to fire charities.
