LINDEN, N.J. — A Linden firefighter recruit and his family lost their two dogs in a fire Saturday that destroyed their Hayes Avenue home.
Fire Chief Joseph Dooley said firefighters responded to a structure fire at 222 Hayes Ave. just after 7:30 a.m. The house was found fully involved.
Firefighter recruit Daniel Sura, 23 and his parents, Mary Beth and Ed Sura, were able to flee the home uninjured. Dooley said the family has deep roots in the community.
