LYNNFIELD, Mass. — A Massachusetts firefighter police say walked naked into a Rhode Island convenience store on a dare to buy a soda will retire after four decades on the force.

The Daily Item of Lynn reports that a Lynnfield town attorney said in a statement the investigation into fire Capt. John Walsh has been completed and Walsh will retire in July.

Walsh was charged with disorderly conduct after an employee at the Middletown store reported the nude customer April 3.

Walsh and a woman, both clothed, were pulled over a short time later. Police say when asked, the 60-year-old Walsh said he entered the store naked on a dare from his girlfriend.

Walsh told the Item previously the “The bulk of the allegation is untrue.”

He’s due back in court June 21.
