FireRescue1 and Fire Chief Form Editorial Advisory Board of Leading Experts

Board will work closely with the editorial team to ensure quality and breadth of fire service coverage

SAN FRANCISCO-FireRescue1.com, the leading online information and training resource for the fire and rescue community, has formed an Editorial Advisory Board to provide direction, guidance, and oversight of FireRescue1 and Fire Chief editorial efforts, including original news, columns and major coverage initiatives.

The Editorial Advisory Board, composed of some of the foremost experts in the fire service, will advise editors on the most timely and relevant information and resources for firefighters and officers across both FireRescue1 and Fire Chief, as well as providing content and insight into emerging trends of note for special coverage efforts. Board members will work closely with FireRescue1 editors and columnists to ensure that the sites’ quality and breadth of coverage of fire service issues continues to expand and improve.

Since its launch in 2005, FireRescue1 has grown into a leading media authority within the fire service, and is firmly established as the most visited online resource for fire departments, with an average of 750,000 unique visitors each month. In 2014, the company acquired Fire Chief magazine brand and relaunched it as a digital publication, encompassing FireChief.com, the Fire Chief eNews and the new Fire Chief Digital Edition, a quarterly magazine-style focus on critical leadership issues.

The Editorial Advisory Board, which will serve a one-year minimum term, is comprised of 10 of the industry’s top experts with complementary perspectives on critical fire rescue topics, issues and trends:

  • Ted Aroesty: Executive Director, Brighton (N.Y.) Fire District
  • Garry Briese: Executive Director, Colorado State Fire Chiefs
  • John Buckman: Ret. Fire Chief, German Township (Ind.) Volunteer Fire Department
  • Pedro Caceres: Captain, Wayne Township (Ind.) Fire Department
  • Billy Hayes: Former Fire Chief, Riverdale (Ga.) Fire Department
  • Gary Ludwig: Fire Chief, Champaign Fire Department
  • Ron Siarnicki: Executive Director, National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation
  • Phil Stittleburg: Past Chair, National Volunteer Fire Council
  • Linda Willing: President, Real World Training & Consulting
  • Rob Wylie: Fire Chief, Cottleville (Mo.) Fire Protection District

“We are thrilled to be working with such a respected group of thought leaders within the industry,” said Jon Hughes, vice president of content for Praetorian Digital. “Collectively, they bring decades of experience and a diverse array of backgrounds and perspectives to the table. Their feedback will enhance our ability to stay abreast of and speak directly to the most important issues facing the fire service.”
