COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Firefighters jumped out of their truck and began administering first aid Tuesday after a car slammed into their fire engine about 5:45 p.m.

None of the firefighters was injured. The three people inside the 1990 Buick Riviera were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Colorado Springs police.

Firefighters returning to Station 13 were waiting at the stoplight at Pikes Peak Avenue and Academy Boulevard when the Buick rear-ended the engine.

The driver of the Buick, whose name was not released, was cited for careless driving and other equipment violations.
