The Memphis Fire Department is proud to announce that the department is the first fire department in the United States to receive approval as an accredited organization from the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). Simply stated, the Memphis Fire Department has passed a rigorous and comprehensive examination by the national accrediting body on EMS education for our training and education programs for Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.
Gary Ludwig, Deputy Fire Chief for the Memphis Fire Department said, “I am extremely proud of our EMS training staff that has worked so hard to achieve this level of accreditation. With EMS training needs for approximately 1,900 personnel, our EMS educational staff is up to the challenge of maintaining these high standards. This is a major milestone for our department.”
The Memphis Fire Department is appreciative of the accreditation it has received from CECBEMS and looks forward to maintaining the value and principles that comes with this recognition.
