Cardiac Science and Benco Dental Partner to Distribute Powerheart AEDs

Benco Dental Places Powerheart AEDs in its 40 Showrooms Nationwide

BOTHELL, WA and HANOVER PARK, IL, -- Cardiac Science Corporation [Nasdaq: CSCX], a global leader in advanced cardiac monitoring and external defibrillation products, and Benco Dental, the nation’s fastest-growing independent distributor of dental products and equipment, announced today an agreement under which Benco Dental will sell and distribute Cardiac Science’s Powerheart® automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to dental practices nationwide.

To launch the partnership, Benco Dental has purchased a Powerheart AED for each one of its 40 regional showrooms to protect employees and guests and educate its customers on the importance of these life saving devices.

“More and more, dentists are attentive to the risk of a patient or employee suffering from cardiac arrest in their offices,” said Charles Cohen, president, Benco Dental. “This risk is very real, caused by the stress and fear many people have before a dental exam, the sedation required for some procedures, and demographic changes that are bringing more elderly patients into the practice for, in many cases, surgical procedures.

“We believe the Powerheart AED is ideal for dental practices,” continued Mr. Cohen. “Powerheart’s voice prompts are clear, easy to follow and consistent with the American Heart Association’s latest CPR guidelines. The device’s daily diagnostic self-test ensures that the device will be ready when needed for a rescue, and its waveform technology customizes the level of energy needed during the rescue, depending on the victim’s individual needs. We are delighted to offer such a quality, valuable product to our to our growing client base.”

“Access to defibrillation in the dentist’s office protects both patients and employees,” said Garry Norris, Cardiac Science’s vice president of marketing. “With the State of Florida’s mandate that all dental offices have an AED, as well as the American Dental Association’s recommendation that all offices be so equipped, this is becoming more and more apparent. We are honored that Benco Dental, a leading distributor of dental products and services with more than 20,000 customers, has recognized the advantages of the Powerheart AED and decided to partner with us. We look forward to working with them and expanding the presence of AEDs in dental practices, nationwide.”
