CFSI ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR FIRE SERVICE LEADERSHIP AWARD:

CFSI/Motorola Solutions Mason Lankford Fire Service Leadership Award Recognizes Individual Leadership

The Congressional Fire Services Institute is accepting nominations for the CFSI/Motorola Solutions Mason Lankford Fire Service Leadership Award. Sponsored jointly by CFSI and Motorola Solutions, Inc, the award recognizes individual leadership in advancing fire and life safety initiatives. The award presentation will take place on April 16, 2015 at the 27th Annual National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner in Washington, DC.

The award is named after the late-Mason Lankford, a former fire service leader from the state of Texas who worked closely with former Congressman Curt Weldon in establishing the Congressional Fire Services Caucus in 1987. The criteria stress the importance of forming positive working relationships with government leaders at all levels to advocate issues and initiatives that improve the safety of the fire and emergency services and the public they serve.

The theme of the dinner program is “The Future Depends on Informed Leaders.” Success on Capitol Hill requires knowledgeable and informed leaders who can articulate issues supported by the fire and emergency services to their members of Congress. The Dinner is part of a larger program: the 2015 National Fire and Emergency Services Symposium which takes place April 15-16. This two-day event, featuring members of Congress, federal agency officials and national fire service leaders, is designed to educate fire service officials on congressional activities impacting the fire service and how fire service leaders can advocate for these issues.

Over 2,000 local, state and national fire and emergency services leaders are expected to attend the event, making it the largest gathering of fire service leaders throughout the country. For additional information about the Mason Lankford Fire Service Leadership Award and the 2015 National Fire and Emergency Services Symposium and Dinner, visit the CFSI website at www.cfsi.org. The nomination deadline is February 27, 2015.
