EL PASO, Texas — A woman was rescued by firefighters Sunday afternoon after falling down an embankment while hiking in McKelligon Canyon, El Paso Fire Department officials said.

Just before 1 p.m., members of the Combined Search and Rescue Team were dispatched to the scene, said Fire Marshal Calvin Shanks, a spokesman for the fire department. Crews safely brought the woman down the mountain at about 3:30 p.m., he said.

The victim was identified as a 45-year-old woman. She was treated for dehydration and non-life threatening injuries. She was then taken to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation, Shanks said.
