Firefighters continued Sunday night to put out hots spots in a blaze that charred about 368 acres in the Winchester area, fire officials said.
The Cort Fire started near the intersection of Highways 74 and 79 and Cortrite Avenue, east of Interstate 215, about 4:45 p.m. Saturday. It was contained by midnight, said Capt. Fernando Herrera of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection/Riverside County Fire Department.
No structures were damaged, said CDF-Riverside County fire Capt. Lori Windsor. A firefighter was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center for evaluation after suffering from heat exhaustion about 8 p.m. Saturday, Windsor said.
On Sunday, about 100 fire personnel and seven engines were putting out hot spots, Windsor said.
The cause of the blaze was being investigated.
