OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma City fire truck responding to a false call and an Embark bus were involved in separate accidents Thursday on icy streets in the city, according to police and fire department reports.

No injuries were reported.

The fire truck overturned about 7:10 a.m. at 2039 NW 16, a police spokesman reports.

A wrecker was requested to upright the fire truck that was on its side, said police Master Sgt. Gary Knight.

The fire truck, Engine 14, was responding to a commercial fire alarm when it slid on ice and overturned, said fire Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson. He said there were no other vehicles involved. There was no commercial fire Thursday morning however, just a false call, Fulkerson said. Someone had thought they saw smoke coming from a chimney that turned out not to be smoke, Fulkerson said.

An Oklahoma City Embark bus wrecked near NE 63 and N Kelley Avenue in northeast Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City streets are extremely slick and hazardous Thursday morning and more ice is possible during the day.

Interstate 40 eastbound lanes were closed early Thursday at Anderson Road due to a wreck in eastern Oklahoma County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

The lanes were closed about 3:40 a.m., the patrol reports.

Icy roadways are reported across Oklahoma early Thursday, including the Oklahoma City area.

A number of roadways statewide are also affected by icy conditions Thursday.

Near Pauls Valley, about 3:10 a.m. the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 in Garvin County were shut down due to a wreck involving a number of vehicles, the patrol reports.

A concrete barrier was knocked into part of the southbound lanes, but southbound traffic was moving early Thursday around it, the patrol reports.
