LOS ANGELES — One firefighter suffered some smoke inhalation while assisting other firefighters in putting out an attic fire today inside a two-story home in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, a firefighter said.

Paramedics transported the injured firefighter in fair condition to an area hospital where he will be further evaluated, said Matt Spence of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to 1143 S. Westlake Ave. at 9:38 a.m. and had the fire out at 10:02 a.m, Spence said.

“They got a pretty quick knockdown and had some spot fires there,” he said.

One firefighter said the house had a double-roof, making it difficult to get water on the base of the flames. The cause of the fire and damage estimates were under investigation.
