GLACE BAY, Canada — The fire chief of Glace Bay, N.S., says he is fed up with vandals attacking firefighters and their equipment while they are trying to fight fires.

Jimmy Taylor says it happened again last Friday when members of the Glace Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to a blaze in a vacant structure.

He says while they were battling flames rocks were thrown at their trucks damaging both main line pumpers.

Taylor says it’s the second time in a month they’ve had things thrown at them while they were trying to do their jobs.

In an earlier incident, he says vandals threw a frying pan, pool furniture, steel grills, a weightlifting bench and other household items at them.

A 19-year-old Glace Bay man will appear in provincial court in August to face charges of mischief and uttering threats for allegedly throwing rocks at the fire trucks.
