WASHINGTON — Bryce Harper’s personalized D.C. Fire Department helmet — which he wore while celebrating the Nats’ NL East title — immediately became one of the symbols of this season, with fans using the image as social media avatars, and donning fire helmets of their own, and buying new Harper Helmet T-shirts.
Now there’s a new Harper Helmet T-shirt, and this one is raising at least some money for a firefighting cause.
A portion of the proceeds from this new shirt — which is already available at MLB’s online retailer and at the Nationals team store — will go to the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation. Established in 2004, the foundation — comprising active and retired D.C. firefighters — assists “in the recovery and rehabilitation of injured firefighters and burn patients in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.”
