CLINTON, Miss. — Clinton firefighters Wednesday night mourned the loss of one of their own.
Capt. John Thurman, a 21-year veteran with the Clinton Fire Department, was pronounced dead on arrival at a Jackson hospital after being found unconscious in the park next to Fire Station 3 on West Northside Drive, across from Lovett Elementary.
Thurman, who had been exercising while on duty, was found by someone walking through the park about 5 p.m., said Deputy Chief Tim Shanks. His cause of death is unknown, Shanks said.
