DIX HILLS, N.Y. — A New York firefighter died Friday after experiencing a medical emergency due to overexertion.
Firefighter Walter Hessling, 54, of the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Department, suffered a stroke after clearing the scene of a motor vehicle accident on November 21.
He passed away several days later.
In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting that donations be made to the Brady Intemann Foundation, 4 Pine Hollow Lane, Greenlawn, NY 11740.
