PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. — The Pulaski County coroner’s office is investigating the sudden death of a 33-year-old Little Rock firefighter who collapsed Thursday morning.
Dustin Werner, 33, of 63 Eastwood Drive in Ward, just northeast of Cabot in Lonoke County, collapsed suddenly about 9:30 a.m. while jogging, Coroner Garland Camper said. Werner, who served as a firefighter for 4 1 /2 years, was pronounced dead at 11:16 a.m. at North Metro Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Relatives told Camper that Werner, who was in good physical condition prior to his death, usually jogged one to two miles a day.
Camper said he is awaiting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of Werner’s death but he doesn’t “have any reason to believe there was any foul play.”
