GALESBURG, Ill. — An Illinois firefighter was injured after falling through the ceiling at a house fire on Wednesday night.

Firefighters from all three Galesburg Fire Department stations responded to the blaze, which originated in the attic of the home, according to KWQC. All the residents of the home had already evacuated, and as a crew made entry to attack the fire, a firefighter fell through the ceiling, officials said.

The firefighter landed on the stairs that led into the basement, sustaining injuries. The firefighter was transported to the hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Firefighters contained the fire to the attic. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, according to investigators.
