KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A fire captain was hurt Monday when a ceiling collapsed in a blaze.
WBIR reported that the Knoxville Fire Department responded to a house fire and found smoke coming from the attic and eaves of the home.
A crew entered the home and found the fire had spread into the interior wall from a crawlspace.
KFD spokesperson Capt. D.J. Corcoran told Knoxville News Sentinel the crew doused the flames, which soaked the sheet rock ceiling, causing it to collapse into a room of the home.
“One of our captains was inside of the home at the time,” he said, adding that the firefighter was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening neck injuries.
Fire department officials said the firefighter was “alert and conscious,” WVLT reported.
