WEST PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. — After a fellow firefighter was hit on the head amid thick, dark smoke, Collegeville Volunteer Firefighters called a mayday on Tuesday afternoon, KARK reported.

About 30 firefighters from nine departments were working at the house fire.

“The first thought is of course everyone is going to be scared. Then it was complete confidence,” said West Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department Chief Scott Joblin. His crew responded first.

He said that a Crystal volunteer firefighter was resuscitated but blacked out again.

Firefighters carried him to a second-story window. He regained consciousness and was transported to a medical facility.
