The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) is proud to announce the new leadership of its National Advisory Committee (NAC). Vickie Pritchett of the National Fire Sprinkler Association is the new chair of the NAC and the new Vice Chair is Butch Browning of the National Association of State Fire Marshals. Both the chair and vice chair are eligible to serve two, one-year terms. CFSI looks forward to working with the newly appointed leadership as they guide the NAC in shaping consensus-driven policy recommendations and strengthening engagement with federal lawmakers.

CFSI also extends its sincere gratitude to former NAC Chair Preet Bassi for her outstanding leadership and dedicated service. During her tenure, Ms. Bassi played an instrumental role in strengthening collaboration among member organizations, advancing key policy priorities, and ensuring that the NAC remained a respected and effective voice for the fire and emergency services community. Her commitment and leadership have left a lasting impact on both the committee and the broader fire service.

The NAC plays a critical role in shaping CFSI’s policy agenda. Composed of more than 35 national trade groups, professional associations, and issue-based organizations representing the fire and emergency services sector, the NAC provides a unique forum for collaboration. Committee members meet regularly to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities that range from federal funding for fire and EMS programs to advancements in technology, disaster preparedness, and first responder safety. Through a formal resolution process, the NAC develops consensus positions that ultimately inform legislative action. Recent examples of NAC-originated execution includes:

As new leadership takes the helm, CFSI looks forward to the NAC continuing to build on this legacy of fostering collaboration, advancing consensus, and championing the needs of the fire and emergency services.
