CAMP HILL, Pa. — A Lower Allen Township firefighter talked a woman out of a hair-raising situation Thursday when she refused to leave her burning apartment for fear that her nine cats would perish.
The call was dispatched at 9:18 p.m. to the Rossmoyne Manor apartments development at 35 Scarsdale Drive. Fire investigators believe the blaze originated near a lamp in a second floor apartment, according to a Lower Allen press release.
A firefighter who lives nearby heard the call and was the first to arrive at the scene, the release states. While most of the residents escaped safely, the firefighter, who was not being identified by fire officials as of Friday morning, made contact with a 66-year-old woman still inside.
