LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles firefighters rescued a worker from a collapsed trench at a construction site Wednesday.
The 40-year-old man was alert and conscious as he was hoisted out of a hole where he was buried up to his shoulders, said Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The incident was reported shortly after 3 p.m. in North Hollywood and the man was freed about 4:45 p.m.
He was being rushed to a local hospital, Humphrey said.
Another person who was initially trapped was freed within five minutes and taken to a hospital, Humphrey said. That person’s condition was not immediately known.
