WATERTOWN, Mass. — An off-duty fire fighter rescued an 18-year-old woman from a fire at a residence on Standish Road Saturday morning.
Firefighters responded to the two and a half-story single family home at 11:19 on May 26. Deputy Fire Chief Robert Iannetta, whose house abuts the Standish Rd. property, went into his backyard and saw a fire coming from the residence, according to the fire report.
“We were out in the yard and could smell some mulch burning. This went on for an hour or so and the smell got stronger,” Iannetta said. “We went out on the back deck and looked out and saw the back of the house and the deck was burning.”
