COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia firefighters battled a large house fire on Kelly Mill Road on May 16, after crews arrived to find flames showing through the roof and much of the home involved.

Engine 33 was first to arrive. No one was inside the home at the time. One resident at the scene was taken to a hospital by Richland County EMS and later released.

Because of the extent of the fire, crews fought the flames from outside the home, with multiple units staged along the roadway to supply water.
