NFL star donates $25K to hometown fire academy

Denver Bronco Von Miller set up a fire academy scholarship and donated a new police car

DESOTO, Texas — Super Bowl 50 MVP and Broncos linebacker Von Miller donated $25,000 to set up a scholarship fund for his hometown’s fire department; he also bought the police a new squad.

According to the news release, a $2, 500 scholarship will be awarded each year for the following 10 years to individuals who choose to attend the DeSoto Fire Academy.

Miller had the 2016 Ford Explorer Interceptor customized and programmed to display special graphics specific to the police department.

Miller will present the vehicle and scholarship money to DeSoto Police and Fire Rescue alongside the city’s mayor, council members, city administration and members of the police and fire departments.
