GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C. — Firefighters rescued a donkey after it became trapped in a sinkhole in North Carolina.
The donkey, named Dora, fell into the sinkhole on July 16 in Granville County, according to the Wake Forest Fire Department, which shared photos of the rescue.
Rescue units responded and created a rig system to pull the animal from the hole, according to the Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association.
Video shows the donkey being pulled from the hole by a harness as firefighters assist.
The donkey was not injured, according to the Wake Forest Fire Department.
The Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association did not respond to a request for further information on July 17 from McClatchy News.
Granville County is on the northern border of North Carolina. Oxford is the county seat.
