HOUSTON — Firefighters were captured on camera rescuing a family from a raging apartment fire while the flames blazed behind them.
ABC7 reported that nine departments responded to the fire, including Champions Emergency Services District and Little York Fire Department, and crews can be seen in the video bringing a mother and her three children down from a second-floor balcony while flames shoot out of the apartment. Firefighters also rescued a puppy from the fire.
“We went to the closet to get clothes and shoes. We saw the smoke collapsing in the roof inside the apartment. I just grabbed my kids and went,” Margaret Williams said.
The blaze destroyed 16 apartment units.
