WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — Four Westmoreland County firefighters were taken to the hospital yesterday after battling a house fire in Murrysville.
Firefighters were called to 3303 Jude Court in the Meadowbrook Plan shortly before 11:30 a.m.
“There was heavy smoke and a good bit of fire on initial attack,” said Al Dover, Murrysville fire chief.
Dover said both floors of the two-story structure were damaged extensively. No one was at home at the time of the blaze. Firefighters remained on the scene until about 4:30 p.m.
Four firefighters at the scene were taken to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville for medical attention. Dover said two were Murrysville firefighters, one is from the Sardis Volunteer Fire Department and the fourth from Level Green.
“It was nothing serious, all minor stuff,” Dover said. “A couple guys went to the hospital with minor burns and a little bit of overexertion. Everybody’s home.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters from at least five Westmoreland companies and two from Allegheny were involved in the fire call.
