Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. — A firefighter on his way to a fire in southern Pulaski County was injured early Tuesday when his truck ran off the road, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 2:15 a.m. as Al Evans was headed to a mobile home fire at 608 Ada Lane, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Evans, driving a Northeast Saline County Fire Department truck, was traveling east on Ironton Cut-Off and had just turned left onto Dreher Road when the truck ran off the road and overturned, the report states.

Evans, who was the only person in the truck, was treated at an area hospital and released, said Tom Eckelkamp, assistant chief of the Arch Street Fire Department. Evans’ age and address were not available Tuesday.

Firefighters with the Arch Street and East End fire departments put out the fire, Eckelkamp said. No one was injured in the fire.
