NEW YORK — A group of atheists complaining about the word “heaven” being used in a street sign honoring fallen 9/11 firefighters is now suing the city.
The city’s decision to rename a portion of Richards street to “Seven in Heaven Way” to honor seven firefighters sparked outcry from some atheists across the country, according to WPIX.
“We are not against honoring those who died on 9/11, but we are arguing the word heaven should not be used. It has religious connotations,” said Ken Bronstein, President of the New York City Atheists.
