Calif. firefighter hit, seriously injured by speeding car

Motorist faces drunken-driving charge

PASADENA, Calif. — A female firefighter is in stable condition with bruises and a fractured skull after being struck by an allegedly drunken driver in a speeding BMW, authorities said Friday.

The car was traveling at about 80 mph at the time of the accident, police said.

Launa Wilson, 26, a two-year veteran of the department, was only grazed by the vehicle because Capt. Henry Moreno pulled her to safety, authorities said. The accident happened at 11:37 p.m. Thursday in the roundabout at the intersection of South Los Robles Avenue and Glenarm Street, police said.
