SAN FRANCISCO — A woman leaped to her death Sunday morning from a burning eighth-floor apartment in San Francisco, police said.

Officers found the woman dead on the sidewalk on the 800 block of O’Farrell Street, between Polk and Larkin streets, at about 5:30 a.m., said Sgt. Troy Dangerfield, a police spokesman. He did not identify her.

The fire injured a second person in the apartment, a man in his 30s, who was taken to a hospital, Dangerfield said.

He said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
