BURLINGTON, Ont. — Burlington firefighters had cause for a little extra concern when they rolled up to a minor fire at Joe Dog’s Bar and Grill on Brant Street Wednesday night.
The offices of the Burlington Professional Firefighters Association, Local 1552 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, are located upstairs.
Fire safety officer Ben Rotsma said restaurant staff quickly cleared patrons out of the eatery after someone smelled smoke about 10 p.m.
A small fire was found in a wall at the front of the restaurant and a malfunctioning electric heater has been blamed for the blaze.
There was a light amount of smoke through the restaurant and the firefighters’ local office upstairs, Rotsma said.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries after something fell on his foot, but he was able to finish his shift.
Damage is estimated at $2,500.
