Car slides under trailer on I-95 in Philly; 4 dead

The Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA — State police in Philadelphia say a car has gone out of control and has slid under a tractor-trailer on a major highway, killing four people.

Police say the car was speeding and changing lanes while heading south on Interstate 95, one of the nation’s longest highways. They say it was in a left lane just north of the center of the city early Sunday when the driver turned the steering wheel to the right before losing control and hitting the rig.

All four people in the car died at the scene. One of them was ejected.

The rig’s driver was uninjured.

The crash temporarily closed parts of the southbound lanes of I-95, which connects 15 states from Florida to Maine. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
