A Chicago Fire Department helicopter on its way to a report of a person in the water at a North Side beach was forced to make an emergency crash landing on the lakeshore near 39th Street on Friday, according to fire officials.
At about 11:58 a.m., the helicopter landed near the beach at 39th Street, according to police News Affairs spokeswoman Robin Mohr.
Helicopter 681 was carrying four people, who were being taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, when it made an emergency landing around 39th Street, according to Fire Media Director Larry Langford. He said all four apparently suffered only minor injuries.
