BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Hygiene Fire Protection District Chief William Nelson was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of impersonating an officer and driving under the influence.
Nelson, 57, used his personal car to pull someone over after a traffic altercation at about 10:15 p.m. near North Foothills Highway and Hygiene Road, according to Boulder County sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Dimond. No details on the altercation were available today.
Boulder County sheriff’s officers who responded to the scene determined that Nelson was intoxicated, Dimond said. Officers also found less than an ounce of marijuana and guns in his vehicle, he said.
Nelson, who remained at the Boulder County Jail on a $5,000 bond this afternoon, is expected to make his first court appearance at 2 p.m. Monday.
