KANAWHA COUNTY, SC —A firetruck on its way to a blaze in northern Kanawha County crashed and rolled over an embankment.
Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers said the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department engine was on its way to a fire at an abandoned house along Big Fork Road near Clendenin when it apparently lost control and ran off the road.
The crash happened a few minutes before 9 p.m. Thursday on Big Fork Road near Frame, according to Metro 911.
Four firefighters were in the vehicle at the time, dispatchers said. They all got out of the truck, but two of them were taken to Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Hospital to be treated for possible back injuries, dispatchers said.
A wrecker service was called to help clear the scene.
Authorities were still on the scene Thursday night investigating the crash. The firefighters’ names have not been released.
