MOORESVILLE, Ind. — Police say neither weather nor alcohol appear to have been factors in a head-on crash between an ambulance and an SUV.
The crash on Indiana 144 in northern Morgan County killed two people - 40-year-old Brown Township Fire Captain David Sherfick and 45-year-old James R. Hoskins of Nashville. They were the drivers.
Another firefighter was injured in the crash. He’s in stable condition at an Indianapolis hospital.
The ambulance was returning from a run to Indianapolis. Police say it was not operating its lights or siren.
Sherfick was a 17-year veteran of the Brown Township Fire Department.
