SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. — A local firefighter has been indicted for stealing thousands of dollars from the Crusade for Children. And the lead detective on the case says the suspect broke into his own firehouse to get the money. WAVE 3 Investigator Eric Flack has the story.
At the Nichols Fire Department outside Shepherdsville, one of the best firefighters is now under indictment for alledgedly commiting one of the worst of crimes: stealing money meant to help disabled children.
Nichols Fire Chief William Coy says David Simmons is “a heck of a firefighter. I’d go into a house fire with him.”
