Doctors at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center have upgraded the condition of North Forrest volunteer firefighter Ricky Stewart to fair.
Stewart, 33, had been in critical condition since he was overcome by smoke and burned while fighting a Jan. 6 mobile home fire in the Eatonville community. While his medical condition has improved, Stewart remains in the intensive care trauma/burn unit, hospital spokesman Hank Black said.
