MOUNT DORA, Fla. — A city firefighter was hurt early Wednesday while battling a blaze that destroyed an old rooming house on East Jackson Avenue, authorities said.
Rob Hanson, a firefighter and paramedic with the Mount Dora Fire Department, was treated and released from Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares. He suffered bruises on his back and neck when a burning piece of the roof fell on him, Mount Dora Fire Chief Ronnie Snowberger said.
The blaze broke out about 2 a.m. at the boarded-up building in the city’s northeast side, according to reports.
